Bells

Can someone tell me how it is that our whole week, Monday through Friday, 7:30 to 2:35, can be directed by a bell?

All that it is is a simple audio tone, a mere vibration picked up by some fleshy organ that we never even see.

I thought that humans were supposed to be some awesome self-aware, free-thinking being. Yet we let what we do and when we do it is predicted and set in stone system put forth through a speaker for all to hear.

So maybe the kids we call delinquents for skipping class are really true visionaries taking control of their lives. The bell doesn't save us, it slowly kills us with monotony.
